Every woman will experience a natural weight gain during pregnancy. This increase in body weight puts additional pressure on your knees, ankles and feet that adds on to the pain which you are experiencing. The body changes and increased stress may occur. Often we see that the body retains more fluids than usual, which may mean that one is a little ‘bloated’. This also causes the nerves, muscles and blood vessels to become narrower that can result in pain.

Hand, foot and ankle pain in pregnant women can vary in character, some feel stabbing pain, numbness or throbbing pain. Our chiropractors at Chiro & SportsMed will examine the issue in order to find the main reason then draw up a treatment plan in consultation with you. The chiropractor will also refer you to physiotherapy, acupuncture or massage should one of these treatments prove to be more effective for your ailments.
