Nutritional medicine is a holistic approach to the interactions of both nutrition and environment on human health. It asks the question “Why do you have this problem in the first place?”. Using food as medicine the aim is to restore function to enable healing and long term health. Nutritional medicine is about preventative health care as well as treating the symptoms currently presenting.
Conditions you may seek a nutritionist for include but are not limited to the following:
Mood health: anxiety, depression, distorted eating, body image concerns
Muscle and joint pain: rheumatoid arthritis, muscles aches and tightness.
Fatigue, energy, sleep
Women’s health: PCOS, endometriosis, reproductive health
Male health: reproductive health, vitality
Weight loss and muscle gain
Skin conditions: acne, psoriasis
Cardiovascular conditions: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease
General health, diet and lifestyle support
Each person is unique in terms of biochemistry, metabolism, anatomy and genetics. Therefore treatment will differ per individual.
Elizabeth will utilise:
Food as medicine treatment protocols.
Supplements may be recommended as needed.
Investigate testing may be recommended as needed. Tests may include blood tests or functional pathology testing such as food intolerance, stool tests, adrenal testing, sex hormone profiles and neurotransmitters profiles.
Initial consultations are $180. Full payment on the first session.
Elizabeth will collect all the information she need about you to get to the underlying cause of your health issues and find an appropriate solution. Together you will also spend time setting health goals. Bring any blood work or recent testing that you have done. Elizabeth may suggest some tests if it would be beneficial in understanding what may be happening for you. Elizabeth then analyses all the information and spends a further 30 minutes putting your treatment plan together.
Follow Up Consultations
$75 for 30 minutes or $110 for 60 minutes.
During this consultation you will receive a detailed treatment plan which will be thoroughly explained in simple terms. Your treatment plan will include dietary and supplement advice. Elizabeth takes time to ensure the treatment plans are appropriate to the individual being treated, they are realistic, sensible and evidence based.
Depending on your state of health and the level of support your require follow up consultations are recommended every 2-4 weeks initially, reducing in frequency as your health improves. Accountability often is key in treatment plans for long term success. It may be appropriate to have appointments every 3-4 months to help you stay on track and implement preventative health strategies.
