Back pain in pregnant women is very common. Over 50% of all women experience back pain for the first time during pregnancy. This is due to the changes in body posture. Your hormones are relaxing the ligaments in the joints of your pelvis. As the baby grows you start to gain weight, so your center of gravity changes and you tend to shift forward. To avoid leaning forward, you might compensate by leaning back. This can strain the muscles in your lower back and contribute to back pain during pregnancy. Pain can sometimes refer to the legs. These pains are otherwise often confused with PGP (pelvic girdle pain).
Remember to keep a good posture in mind. Here are some tips:
Treatment by our chiropractors consists of reducing the pain by normalizing movement in the lumbar spine, provide advice and guidance as well as training exercises. It is also very important to examine the muscle imbalance as a cause of lower back discomfort, then we often see a connection. We also offer acupuncture and stretching techniques.
